The Magistrates Association (MA) was established in 1962 as the independent voice of magistrates in England and Wales. Operating by Royal Charter, it provides education, training and support for its 26,000 active members.

After more than 50 years, the MA’s long-term home in Fitzroy Square was becoming difficult and expensive to maintain, while the historic building’s layout was proving less and less unsuited to modern ways of working.

Modern white kitchen area through a glass wall
Black metal and wooden spiral staircase leading up to the next floor
Waitiung area with two cream leather chairs, overlooked by two offices above with glass windows
Small box meeting room with a small circular table, two purple chairs either side and a full height glass window at the end of the room

Accordingly, the MA took on new premises in a modern building in Vauxhall. In a bid to inject some much-needed modernity into its working environment, the MA collaborated with Shaw Studios and InteriorLAB to create an interior concept, with key furniture by the likes of Knoll, USM, Brunner and Flos giving a nod to classic styling.

The project was a particular highlight in 2017, and we were thrilled with the result – as was the client.
